The journey to the top offers a beautiful view of mountain ranges and the valley. It should be noted that the Ella rock is known as the highest peak of the Ella area.
Attractions Around
Bambaragama Waterfall ? If you have reached the edge of the mountain, which is about 1km away from Ella Rock, there is a small Buddhist shrine from where one can visualize the concealed upper parts of the Bambaragala Falls. The view is so majestic that it cannot be seen from anywhere else.
Dunhinda Falls ? One of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls, the Dunhinda Falls gets its name from the smoky white spray created by the falls. The waterfall is surrounded by an equally spectacular forest area full of lush greenery and wildflowers. At the end of the path, there is a perfect observation spot to gaze and marvel at this splendorous waterfall.
Ravana Cave ? The famous Ravan Ella Cave has its association with the epic Ramayana, which makes it one of the popular tourist attractions. According to popular beliefs, when Sita was kept imprisoned in the cave, she bathed in the pool of water at the bottom of the waterfall.
Best time to visit
Though Ella is an all year long destination, the best time to visit Ella would be during Summer (March to June) and Winter (December to February) which are the two peak seasons. Monsoon in Ella is considered a low season and travelling during Monsoon would mean quite a few travel restrictions.
