Popularly known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks that meander through the beautiful ethnic villages of Annapurna Region. The trek is best known for the views from Poon Hill. Offering the striking panorama of huge Himalayas including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gangapurna, and Manaslu ranges, the phenomenal sunrise from Poon Hill must not be missed.

Trekking in Poon Hill lets you witness terraced slopes, warm villages, beautiful paddy fields, and wonderful culture and lifestyle of ethnic people like Gurungs, and Magars. About the trek
From Kathmandu, a 6-7 hour bus ride takes you to Pokhara. A short drive through the foothills takes you to the start of the trek at 1070m. Two fairly easy days of trekking lead to the large village of Ghorepani. Two more days of walking lead to the second large village of Ghandruk. The route on the final day follows the major Modi Khola that carries melt water from the ring of peaks in the Annapurna Sanctuary that eventually pour into the Ganges River in India.

Best time to visit
Spring time (March to May), and autumn time (September to November) are considered as the most popular seasons to visit Poon Hill. All you need is a good pair of boots, a day pack, warm clothing, sleeping bag and camera.
