Bodh Gaya, the birthplace of Siddhartha Buddha, is extremely popular among those seeking mental solace. ?This tiny village rests in the Northeast Indian state of Bihar. This is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment under a Bodhi tree. The place is not only worshiped by Buddhists but is also visited by people of all religious backgrounds.

Mahabodhi Temple remains the most popular World Heritage Site in Bodh Gaya. This temple was built in the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. The temple complex is huge with 4.8 hectares of area and it stands 55 meters tall. ?Here also rests the sacred Bodhi Tree.

The Great Buddha Statue is the tallest in India. It was installed here by the XIV Dalai Lama in the year 1989. It looks majestic with Buddha meditating on a massive lotus. For some mental solace, Vishnupad Temple is also a must visit here. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is built in Shikhara style. It was raised by Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore in the year 1787. Legends say that this temple was built on the place where the footprints of Lord Vishnu rested.
