Ranikhet

Ranikhet, which literally means Queen's farm, is a beautiful hill station housing numerous ancient temples, rolling Himalayan hills and verdant forests. Ranikhet is also the Headquarters of the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. People come here to ditch the world of concrete and relish soul soothing vistas of nature all around.

Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum and Memorial remains the most visited place of tourist interest in Ranikhet. It was raised in 1974 and symbolizes bravery. The museum tells you about the sacrifices made by soldiers of the place. A parade is organised annually here to applaud the soldiers.

The Jhoola Devi Temple is an ancient temple in Ranikhet built in the 8th century. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Pilgrims believe that the goddess fulfils wishes of all. Ram Mandir is another popular temple located on a hilltop. The temple has a monastery where ancient Vedas, Vedic and modern mathematics are taught to students.

For some serene moments, Majkhali is a great place. This is a perfect place for a beautiful sightseeing experience. Catch eye-catching views of Mount Trishul and relish various outdoor games here. Soft chirping of birds here is soul soothing. Bhalu Dam, a small lake, is another natural wonder in Ranikhet. It was built 1903 by the British Government. The site is blessed with natural wonders, bird’s eye views of the Himalayan Mountains, tranquillity and picturesque surroundings.

Ranikhet’s Golf Ground has earned great popularity too. It has a 9 holes golf course which is managed by the Indian army. This golf course is counted as one of the highest in Asia.

Trekking lovers must enjoy serene treks to some popular sunset points here which bestow views of snow capped Himalayan Mountains. ?
